Transferable Skill-Building Opportunities at OSU

As a reminder, transferable skills are sometimes called “soft skills,” and are defined as those skills that you acquire above and beyond job-specific technical skills. Transferable skills may be a little less concrete to define, but just as valuable to your future employer.

In this lesson, we will continue our discussion on building skills for our “tool belt;” however, we’re now going to look at the importance of engaging in those relevant/practical experiences that teach us how to build transferable experiences:

  • Co-Curricular Activities
  • International Experiences
  • OSU ROTC (Reserve Officers’ Training Corps)
  • Leadership Opportunities
  • Athletic Experiences
  • Service Learning
  • Part-Time Jobs/Student Employment

We have several opportunities to review in this lesson, so let’s move right into our discussion on Co-Curricular Activities.
